Our feature article this week looks at one particular aspect of Putter design in that golfers don't pay much attention to; offset. Is your Putter offset? If so, how much? And does that offset match your Putting stroke? I wonder...

Print Your Own Message on Strata Professional Golf Balls
Personalising your own golf balls is made easy on my website, where you can choose your own message to print on between one and six dozen Strata Professional golf balls, which will then be delivered to my shop for payment and collection. I’ve already seen golf balls with messages on them such as The Tuesday morning ladies’ 4 Ball and Joe Dodds Lost Again. Not only is this a bit of fun for yourself, it’s also a great Christmas gift idea. To find out more, or to order your personalised golf
balls, click here.
Below is an easy-to-use timeline that specifies dates for various stages of the new groove rule. The depth and shape of the grooves on your Wedges will contribute to your control of the ball around the green, so make sure that you have a set of pre 2011 grooves for maximum short game assistance. There are some new Wedge models arriving in the shop shortly- feel free to ask one of us for
assistance when you are looking at them. Also, scroll down to the article titled ‘Groove Surface: Why the Hype?’ to find out more about the importance of the face design for Wedges. |

| HOW YOUR PUTTER'S OFFSET CAN HELP YOU |
 |
Because of the compact nature of the putting stroke a correctly fitted Putter can have a more profound effect on a golfer’s game than any other single fitted club. Think about it; if the Putter’s length is correct the golfer’s eyes will be right over the ball. If the lie angle is right his arms will be hanging straight down. A properly fitted Putter will
encourage a good setup, naturally guiding the golfer into making a better stroke.
There’s another design factor; offset, that can help us once we’re into the stroke, but how? |
 |
 |
The beauty of the Putter fitting process – when combined with the coaching know-how to properly utilise it – is that you’ll be naturally guided into a better stroke, even if it seems you’re doing nothing differently.
Have your Putter correctly fitted and I’ll almost guarantee that – at some point - you’ll utter the words “This is the best Putter I’ve ever used” (or words to that effect). The ironic thing is that the results you’ll see from the fitment process will be more about you and less about the Putter than you think. |

| TAYLORMADE R9 TP IRONS |
 |
Barring some subtle weighting and shaping differences the design ‘philosophy’ of the R9TP is similar to that of the standard R9, with each Iron being engineered individually – rather than as the traditional ‘set’ – to optimise performance. This means the long Irons, while still offering workability, will feature higher forgiveness and the shorter
Irons offer greater precision and control for instances when you need to be aggressive and attack a well-guarded pin.
The question every TaylorMade golfer out there will be asking is “Which one is best for me?” |
 |
TaylorMade have been very aggressive in the marketing of both R9 Irons, claiming that they contain “The most technology you’ll never see”, but just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean you won’t feel it.
The Velocity Control Chamber (fully enclosed behind the clubface and underneath the cavity badge of both Iron variants) certainly dampens vibration and creates an almost buttery feel off the clubface, the feedback from which the lower handicappers in particular will enjoy.
Combine this feel with the compact head shape and reduced offset of the TP version and you have a fine balance between technological advancement and classical styling. Click on the button on the left to book a demo so you can find out whether the R9 or the R9TP will best suit your game.

| Web Article: GROOVE SURFACE: WHY THE HYPE? |
 |
 |
It’s been the manufacturer’s favourite topic recently, but forget about Tour Professionals... If you’re a club golfer, is the groove design and manufacture of your Wedge going to improve your score?
You already know that you want a Wedge with maximum groove size so that you can maximise friction between Wedge face and ball. This will contribute to optimal spin, launch and ball speed. But what about groove consistency and durability?
