As the calendar turns towards May, the weather looks to be heating up just as the tournament schedule does.
On the Schedule:
Both the Tuesday and Friday Night Twi seasons will be getting started next week. The 2 person, 100% handicap, blind draw events are open to all players and are played every Tuesday and Friday during the golf season.
The Paul Revere Cup, the years first “Major”, will be contested this weekend. Last year Steve Jepsen won in “Tigerlike” fashion firing an early season net 64 for a 3 stroke victory. To enter, simply sign up in the Pro Shop prior to your round. The format is 18 holes of Net Medal play. You can elect to play your tournament round on Saturday or Sunday.
The Spring Four-Ball will get started next weekend. An 18 hole qualifying round will be played on May 3rd. The 16 teams that advance to match play will have a week to complete their 1st round matches. There is a consolation flight for all first round losers. Sign up for the Four-Ball is on the bulletin board in the hallway. If you are looking for a partner please let the pro shop know.
The Thursday Suburban League is also underway. They have played one match so far, losing a close away match against Furnace Brook. Team LGC will be looking to get back to their winning ways having won the League Championship in both 2010 and 2012. (2014 is an even year!) Always looking for additional players, so if you would like to play in some of the matches be sure to contact team captains Sam Gallo or Ray Iverson.
So as you can see, coming into May, the season is off and running. Keep an eye out for upcoming events and be sure to sign up early! All events are published in the tournament schedule and posted on the club bulletin board. They are also posted on the club web site www.lexingtongc.com. Questions can be answered with a phone call to the Pro Shop. Our goal is to offer fun competitive events for everybody, so be sure to get involved and participate in your club-sponsored events.

Wednesday, May 7th, we have scheduled an MGA Rules Night. It will begin at 7:00 pm and give you a chance to brush up on the rules and perhaps answer any rules questions you might have.
 | | Check Your Grips
This is the perfect time to check the condition of your grips. The dry winter months has undoubtedly taken its toll on them. Whether stored in the house, garage, or even worse yet, your car trunk, most grips are ready for replacement after the winter. I see many golfers who try to get some extended play with old worn out grips. Sometimes grip wear is hard to detect because it can be so gradual. The fact is, once the grips have worn out, more grip pressure is required to keep the club from slipping in your hands. This added grip pressure increases tension in the swing and does not allow for the proper release (rotation) of the hands and clubhead. Grip replacement . . . it might just be the first step in curing that dreaded slice! |
