Paul Revere Cup Results
The weather was the story of the year’s first “Major” tournament. Last weekend we played the Paul Revere Cup. There were no rounds played on Saturday due to the bad weather. Players still had to contend with cool, damp and windy conditions on Sunday, but at least the rain had ended. Playing early, Kurt Flionis posted the winning score of net 66 (-5). In a hot round, the 4 time Club Champion and 2 handicapper had 7 natural birdies, 5 on the back 9. That was good for a slim 1 stroke victory over runner-up John Dvorak (67). John had one hand on the trophy with 2 holes to play, but his effort was derailed by a quadruple bogey 7 on the 17th hole. Cubby McGee and Sonny Scott tied for 3rd with scores of 69. And in a tie for 5th shooting 70 (-1) we had Dan Brennan, Mark Bianco, and Dick Volpicelli. Congratulations to all the winners, and remember, all results are posted on the club website lexingtongc.com.

On the Course
The long hard winter has left its mark on the area golf courses including LGC. As many of you have seen or heard, we have plenty of damaged turf to contend with. It will be some time before we are back to the fine turf and playing conditions we have become accustomed to. Bob and his crew will be working hard to restore the course conditions. So far Mother Nature has not provided much help, but as we work into May, warmer temperatures and better growing conditions are sure to come. We can also do our part to help that cause. Please replace ALL divots and repair ANY ball marks you see on the greens, even if they were from somebody else. Cart riders can also do their part as cart traffic can and will hinder the recovery process.

Please:
• Keep carts in the rough and vary your drive pattern so as not to wear out the rough right along the fairway.
• Please only cross fairways at 90* if necessary.
• Keep carts off plugged and seeded areas.

     Check Your Grips
This is the perfect time to check the condition of your grips. The dry winter months has undoubtedly taken its toll on them. Whether stored in the house, garage, or even worse yet, your car trunk, most grips are ready for replacement after the winter. I see many golfers who try to get some extended play with old worn out grips. Sometimes grip wear is hard to detect because it can be so gradual. The fact is, once the grips have worn out, more grip pressure is required to keep the club from slipping in your hands. This added grip pressure increases tension in the swing and does not allow for the proper release (rotation) of the hands and clubhead. Grip replacement . . . it might just be the first step in curing that dreaded slice!

There are some awesome new grips available this year. So bring your clubs by the shop sometime for a FREE grip evaluation. If new grips are in order, we can get them installed in 1 day.
