Any chance to tee it up in November qualifies as a bonus round and this past weekend was a winner! It was fun to see everyone enjoying themselves on the course. With the season approaching its natural end, it’s natural to think about where you would like your golf game to be next year.

Last winter, Dave came to me with a clear and specific plan. He had already invested in his health and fitness and wanted to take full advantage of these strengths with his golf game. His goal was to have a balanced practice plan over the winter months that would add distance and consistency to his long game, and get up and down more often with his short game.

A little background on Dave: He was already a great golfer and wasn't a stranger to breaking 80, but would lose a little ground in the off season and wanted to turn that around. As we worked through the winter, it became clear that he had stopped that trend dead in its tracks and he had a fantastic summer golfing with plenty of rounds in the 70’s. I had the opportunity to play with Dave a few weeks ago and I was so impressed with his long drives and solid ball striking.

For the past three years, group coaching has been a part of my lesson programs and is proving to be effective and extremely fun! It offers you the chance to improve and learn from all the participants and receive the personalized coaching tips you need to have a successful practice session. This December I am rolling out two programs that will jump start 2017 and give you a leg up on your New Year goals.

Most golfers struggle with a left-to-right shot shape (left handers are vice versa).
If that’s you it’s robbing you of distance; time in the fairway and on the greens; and fulfillment.
You should get that sorted now. Contact us and let’s see what the real problem is.

You all know what causes a shot to move right (or left for left-handers) after starting in one direction.

In all of these examples the clubhead is ‘open’ to the direction the club face is pointing at impact.
That imparts left to right sidespin on the golf ball.

There are different reasons the face might be open to your swing path. Our job is to diagnose the problem
you’re having and help you to improve. It’s a fun feeling as you start to hit better shots.

It’s your golf game, your swing, and your ambition. That’s where we start. If removing a slice is an ambition,
then the reward is a lot more fulfillment on the golf course with your friends.

In the search for improved ball striking consistency for you, we know we need to match the club weight and swing weight to your swing. Last week we looked at club weight. This week we introduce swing weight, which confusingly isn’t a specific measure of weight, but something that measures feel.

The swing weight of a golf club isn’t recorded as a weight but as a letter
and number.

Swing weight measures the distribution
of weight across the club. The more mass
in the head, the higher the swing weight.

A0 is the lowest swing weight and
F9 is the highest.

A higher swing weight makes it easier to feel the head. But a heavier head may be to difficult to control.

Some golfers increase swing weight by adding lead tape to the clubhead
(increasing the relative mass of the head).

Note though that moving swing weight 1 point (e.g D2 to D3)
is about the equivalent of adding .07oz of weight (or a small coin).

We want to try and match club weight and swing weight to both your swing and your preference.
But the end result we both want is improved shotmaking consistency. Always buy equipment with a fitting.
