Dear Homeowners, members and guests,
I guess I don’t have to tell you how amazing the British Open was. What a spectacular performance by Phil Mickelson and record-setting Henrik Stenson, both great guys. Congratulations to Estelle de Lange who won the lucky draw. We have the PGA Championship up next, so another major means another chance to win the lucky draw.
I have just returned from the annual Pro-Pro Roadtrip hosted by Master PGA Professional, Jeff Clause at St Francis Links. It was special year for Jeff as he celebrates 25 years of hard work and changing lives in the South African golfing industry. We were 54 PGA professionals from all over South Africa and we were treated and educated like only Jeff can. To top the experience was my great golf for a change, almost made a hole-in-one too. The course is always in excellent condition and the weather was fantastic. A big thank you to all the staff at St Francis Links and specially to Jeff and Liezl for another outstanding roadtrip, definitely one we’ll never forget
In my absence, Reinard did a fantastic job at hosting the Husqvarna group’s team building shootout on Wednesday night. Always good to know the club is in good hands when I’m not here. A big thank you to Vickey, Reinard, Johan and their staff for making a success of the evening.
Last week’s 20mm of rain has done wonders for the course but the impact of the drought is still very much visible on the course and surrounding areas. 40mm of rain is predicted from today and for the whole weekend. The effect will make a visible difference. We will apply some fertiliser on all fairways for better colour just before we host the popular 4 x 4 Men’s Team Challenge.
We would like to congratulate a star at the Country Club, Monica Sikobi, on her 10 year service award. Monica is a hard worker and does it all with a smile. From all of us at the Country Club, Well done. Here’s to another 20 years of great service to follow. | | Monica Sikobi |
| | I do not like posting negative news but bad golf etiquette and ignorance is effecting everyone and I feel people should be made aware of it.
In the last couple of weeks mainly during school holidays we had people drive on our greens with carts. This happened on 3 different days and on 3 different greens. The damage was luckily not that severe and they recovered within a couple of days.
We have also noticed on a couple of occasions players taking divots out of our greens. How and why, is beyond me. We have replaced a few areas on the greens that were damaged and it's not something we would like to see continue.
We pledge to all homeowners, members and guests to please report any malicious behaviour to the pro shop or security. Please educate your kids and guests on the delicacy of the greens. This type of behaviour does not bide with the etiquette of golf and it's definitely not the type of behaviour we want on our estate. |

We have so many people interested in bidding on the carts that we are going on silent auction. We are almost done with the selection process and once we are ready I will post it in the newsletter. Should you be interested to be included in the bidding process, please send me a mail and I will send you the information once we are ready.
SA KIDS Golf – Junior Africa Challenge We are in need of complimentary accommodation for the organisers of this non-profitable organisation. If anyone is willing to offer their villa for the week, please be so kind to contact me urgently, it will be greatly appreciated.
To make this event a success, we need some help from our members. We need about 10-15 volunteers for the week of 29 Aug – 2 September.
We have volunteer jobs available for golfers and non-golfers, men & ladies. Lunch packs will be provided.
If you are here and willing to assist, please let me know.
Volunteers confirmed:
1. Estelle de Lange 2. Steve Rybicki 3. Ronel Pretorius | 4. Jurgen Schneider 5. Robbie Robinson 6. Marie Robinson
| Tyn is currently on leave and will be back on the course on Monday. Leon and his staff are doing an amazing job in his absence and work is going on as normal.
Let’s hope and pray for the much needed rain expected over this weekend.
The tree stumps removed on hole 6 were a little bigger than anticipated. It kept the front loader busy the whole day and when he was done we almost had to fill up a hole the size of swimming pool.

Property on the Estate SAN LAMEER, the Golf Estate that set the precedent for all Golf Estates that followed. Set on the South Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal. San Lameer has approximately 1.2 km of private beach-frontage, two Blue Flag Bathing Beaches and 200 hectares of Sanctuary. Take a look below at the properties available on the estate for sale. You’ve earned it. Make it yours! | Rentals We’ve had a couple of enquiries from people who’d like to rent on the estate on a semi-permanent basis. Should you be interested in doing this on a 3-6 month basis, please send me a mail so I can pass your details on to requesting visitors. Please note: Please note that no one is allowed to implement any other activities on the tennis courts except to play tennis. We have been having problems with our tennis courts surfaces due to guests and homeowners using the tennis courts surfaces to play cricket or for other activities such as teambuilding exercises. This damages the courts and costs the estate money. The courts were resurfaced just before December period and we have already perceived problems with the surfaces due to the tennis courts being used for activities. Please note to make sure that your guests use proper tennis attire and shoes and use the courts ONLY for tennis purposes. We thank you for your cooperation within this regard.
