Greensomes were well received!

and they are still friends!

Last Saturday, we held our first Greensomes Champs with nearly 40 players competing for the men's and ladies' titles. Sandra Marais walked passed me on her addressing her partner by saying, "oh, my game is not good right now!" But Sandra's B game with Ingvild Stiansen was enough to capture the ladies' crown on 35 points. Mauro Nettl and Yan Coesens were on another mission as they walked the Men's competition with 42 points! That was some really special golf in the modified alternate shot format.

For the past seven year's St Francis Links as a sponsor and our team have supported the Birdies for Jemma Golf Day at Port Elizabeth Golf Club. Titch and Jackie Moore organize the day and their participation and passion has attracted top golfing celebs, entertainers and comedians. The event, supported by more than 150 golfers this year, has grown beyond Graeme Whale's daughter, Jemma's special needs. It now raises enough money to benefit causes close to her heart. This year with Tour Players, Wallie Coetsee, Titch Moore, Lyle Rowe and Neil Schietikat on the par-3 tees, Corporates including St Francis Links there as well, the par-3 fun generated thousands.

Are you going longer and feeling good?

A while ago, those who didn’t want to play with a premium priced golf ball, had to play with a brick if they were looking for distance, or a golf ball that went nowhere, if they wanted a softer feel. That has changed, and each year we see more and moreimprovement in the combination of feel and distance in 2-pce golf balls. The Srixon Soft Feel has improved year after year and
now you get tremendous ball speed and carry, along with a much softer feel.

Srixon cores provide faster ball speeds
with a softer compression.

Covers have become thinner
(without losing durability) and softer.
A big, big plus on the shorter shots.

Advanced construction techniques have
allowed different areas of the Srixon core
to react differently. That means lots of
energy transfer on shots with long clubs,
and a greater feel on the short shots.

The Srixon SoftFeel today is a real marvel of technology: materials, design, and construction.
But that matters much less than the impact it has on your enjoyment every time you make a golf shot.
If you want advice on which golf ball will offer you which benefits, then please come and chat to us.

Keeping another scorecard to tell another story

 A tip to improve
your percentages

Obviously the lie and shot you have from 40 metres in or less has a large impact on your average score from this range.

Better players influence the chance of a tough greenside shot by making sure that, when planning their approach shot, they reduce the chances of missing the green “on the wrong side”.

Shouldn’t the rest of us, who’re less accurate with our approach shots be doing that?

If your average shots from 40 metres in is over 3, then set out to make an improvement. Everyone of you should be under 3. Most of the time it’s a chip, short-pitch or greenside bunker shot onto the green and 2 putts. Sometimes it’s 1 putt. Those are the three shots you need to master by the way: chip, short-pitch, greenside bunker. Gain the fundamentals, then become a master.
