Dear Homeowners, Members and Guests,

We are extremely excited to once again host the PGA Junior Pro Am and the PGA Regional Fundraiser this coming weekend. We would also like to thank San Lameer Master Homeowners Association for being the main sponsor of the PGA Fundraiser on Sunday and Monday, where we have 20 pro’s and 60 amateurs. The Mark McNulty Junior Foundation contributes a R1000 appearance fee to each of the 14 pro’s participating in the Junior event on Saturday, while the 42 Juniors receive a cap and shirt each sponsored by the Foundation.

We have received the delivery of our 5 new Yamaha golf carts that will be added to our current fleet. We now have a total of 40 carts which will assist us during busy times. The 5 old carts will be sold in January through a tender process, we will let you have the tender documents over December as well as in my newsletter nearer December.

Our top 16 caddies will be playing against the Wild Coast top 16 caddies on 15 August at San Lameer. The prize giving function including catering will be hosted by Port Edward Golf Club. We wish our team all the best and thank them for their contribution in making San Lameer such a special place.

Please note that we are hosting the following prestigious golf tournaments and unfortunately the course will be closed for outside play:

10 – 12 August 4 x 4 Men’s Team Challenge
28 August – 1 September SA Kids Golf – Junior Africa Challenge

Should you want to play at one of our surrounding cubs during this period, please send me a mail and I will make the booking for you with a preferred rate.

We will again require volunteers for the SA Kids Golf tournament, please be so kind to let me know if you will be here and be able to assist during this time with marshalling, shuttling etc.

We have a group from Australia visiting South Africa and staying at San Lameer who would like to challenge a team from San Lameer. We have booked them in our Wednesday competition on 20 September, please send your name to Reinard if you would like to be part of our 8 man team. The evening will be a followed with a braai and prize giving.

The greens are preforming well and are running true with good speed. Poa Annua on some greens are visible, but not interfering with putting at this stage. We have started spraying out Poa on tees and fairways to give us a head start for the growing season. We also concentrated on fertilization of green, fairways, tees and approaches.

Motivational Quote of the week

In life you are either a passenger or a pilot, it’s your choice.” – Unknown

Great spirits have always faced violent opposition from mediocre minds.” – Einstein

Golf Quote of the week

"The value of routine; trusting your swing.” – Lorii Myers

Golf is a puzzle without an answer. I’ve played the game for 50 years and still haven’t the slightest idea how to play.” -

13 Handicapper adds 26 metres to his #6 Iron

A story, published in Golf Digest, told of a 13 handicapper who added 26 metres with his #6 Iron, after a fitting. You’d be amazed what the combination of shaft, shaft length, lie angle and design can do for your ability to hit solid, and long Iron shots.

The proven impact of Random Practice

¹ One group of baseball hitters practised by first facing a group of fast balls; then moved on to curve-balls; then moved on to knuckle balls. The second group used Random Practice mixing up the different balls. The second group improved their hit rate in play by 57% on average; while the first group only showed a 25% improvement on average.

Let’s make sure that you’re getting the full benefit from the time you spend practising. You’ll hit more good shots.
