Congratulations to all our Club Champs!
Our annual Club Championship this last weekend was a great success. I would like to congratulate each and every one for coming out and supporting us this weekend. Well done to all winners and especially Garrick Higgo on defending his title. Alfie and I spent a lot of time on the course to ensure that we have a fun and fair setup for all golfers. From the feedback we got I believe we got it spot on. I would also like to thank everyone that joined for the prizegiving lunch, it was a great finish to our best attended Club Champs ever. It is so important for us that you all come out and have fun, so watch this space. Next time we will step it up a notch and add to this wonderful event.

Improve your short game management
This weekend I picked up on a few things while watching you all play. So I decided to do a quick short game video that might help your short game. I see so many of you leave a lot of shots out there just because of bad short game management. So please click on the video and see my thoughts on how you can improve. If you need help with our short game let me know here and I will get on of our PGA Professionals to contact you. A little advice from an expert goes a long way to help you enjoy this great game more.

How can you improve your pace of play?
To continue our focus on pace of play as we are going into season, I took Desmond out on the course. Desmond shares his thoughts on small things he picks up while marshalling here at De Zalze. Go ahead and click on the video to see how you can help with pace of play.

2017 Winelands Challenge

Best of luck to our Winelands Challenge team this weekend at Arabella. I am sure you guys will represent us well and help us close the gap on the leading teams.

Handicap committee

I would also like to inform you that we are in the process of introducing a handicap committee. This committee will help us to be able to control fair play educate members on handicapping issues. I will have more info for you in our next newsletter.

One of the keys to hitting good Fairway Wood shots is a shallower angle of attack.
That is made easier if you ensure you have a wide take-away.
On the range, practice a slower, wider and more even tempo swing.

If you’d like to be able to come to the golf course, even if you haven’t played for a while, and know that you’ll still hit Fairways,
and be able to then attack greens with your short and mid-Irons, then you want a swing: with athletic posture;
an effective upper body turn; balance and weight movement; and a good swing path.
All within the reach of most golfers.
