This last Saturday was our last Afrigas Monthly medal of the year. Congratulations to all the winners throughout the year! Medal rounds are not always fun, but it is such a good measure of where we are with our games. I would advise that if you shot more than 10 shots over your handicap recently, that you come and see an expert about your game. Small adjustments to your basics are always a good way to start, so make sure you come and have a chat with us as we will help you with your journey to better golf in 2018.

2017 was a funny year on both the US PGA and European tours.
I had a look at both the leading money winners - on the PGA Tour Justin Thomas won $9,921,560 and on the European Tour Tommy Fleetwood won €4,318,908. It is still obvious that the US is the place to play, however I think the European Tour offers so much more to a global audience. I also had a look at how much prize money changed over the last 27 years - on the US PGA Tour Greg Norman was the leading money winner with ##INTROTEXT##,165,477 and in Europe Ian Woosnam won £574,166. It is phenomenal how much money players are playing for these days, and having playing privileges on the PGA Tour for just 2 years can be life changing.

I mentioned earlier that it was a different year on the Professional tours and for me it was mainly because of how disappointing Rory McIlroy was in 2017. I saw him at the South African Open and was blown away by his ball striking and control, I thought he showed us enough there of what we could have expected in 2017. Sadly, that never happened. I hear that he is working hard on his game and who knows, we might just have Rory and Tiger battle it out at the Masters in 2018. I found a video of Rory`s top 10 shots on the European Tour, I was lucky enough to witness number 1 at the SA Open at Glendower.

I hope to see you all at the club before you head out on holiday. The course is looking great and the beer is cold, so no excuses to not play a lot of golf this December.

Happy Golfing
Pierre
