Now is the time to...

Enjoy the great music on offer!

For the past few years, music enthuthiusts in our surrounds would make their way to Rock Lily in Cape St Francis to watch and listen to South Africa's greatest talent from all genre's. Michael Kimmings left the world of corporate business to follow his passion - great music. At Rock Lilly, the best of the best as well as some of the new faces on the scene, could all be found there, and enjoyed. Before closing the doors, Michael approached us about sharing our great venue for musicians our members and locals would love to see. We agreed, and our first artists are PJ Powers, Tigger Reunert and Thandeka. Mike sells the tickets through "Quicket" and you call us to set up your tables for seating. We have the space to give you the choice. Our Chef Jon and his team will be offering "easy food" on the side, to keep your energy levels up, with drink specials, as well! Tickets for the Show, starting at 20h00 are R150 per person.

Join for the music on offer and we will keep it coming for the future!

Tigger

Next up on Father's Day (June 17) - the legendary Andrew Young returns for a very Saxy Sunday!

Now that is worth a little "Sunday Best" - bring the kids - playground and movies in the conference centre (with
sitters") for them! Same procedure - Quiket and then tables through us!

Foursomes this Saturday! Ladies Invitational next Saturday!

Ask and we deliver!

To Sharon, Thinus and Pro Shop staff

Well, what can we say. When you become members of this estate, you immediately receive Royal status. After a joking email suggesting that we would like to pick up our new golf cart on such and such a date, complete with red carpet, flowers and a big red bow, sure enough, it was all there, plus champagne, at the appointed time!!

Many thanks to Sharon who was the Royal Events Coordinator for this, as well as the rest of the wonderful Links Staff for their ongoing very special treatment of all us lucky members of St Francis Links.

Fondest Regards

Chris and Robyn Roberts
Soon to be permanent residents

Sorry, Rex and David, we could have done this for you, as well! Enjoy the rides.

By the way, for those of you waiting for used cars, we will be making 14 of our fleet cars available for purchase. These are all in good condition and feature batteries that are two years old. - R36 000 plus VAT - contact Thinus on 042 200 4502.

Always a special day away! Make a plan, ladies!

Can you play a downhill lie?

When playing from a downslope take less club because the slope delofts the clubface. The ball flight will be lower and the ball will roll more. Position the ball back in your stance a little and feel as if you set your shoulders parallel to the slope.

It will be very difficult to do but you must feel like you do it. If you don't angle your shoulders your body will be tilted back relative to the slope and you'll likely hit behind the ball.

Shots from downhill lies tend to go to the right because you're extending your arms down the slope. You must swing with the slope, not against it. Basically, you're holding off clubface rotation, which can leave the face open at impact. But don't worry about releasing through the ball, just aim a little left to compensate.

Golfers do not practice this when they go to the driving range, but as you can see from the picture there is no reason why you can't.

Every Great shot starts with a SMILE!

There are really quick ways we can improve your short game control,
and we’ll look at what we can do in under 5 minutes.

To give you the control you need on a 30 metre pitch,
we will be looking to get you above 4000 RPM.

If you’re below this magic number on a 30 metre pitch shot,
then we’ve got work to do together.

We want you to improve your score on Par 3’s.
Part of that is avoiding 5’s, 6’s and even worse.
Sometimes the hole designer is looking to harm your scorecard.
Consider this real Par 3 (it’s the 200 metre+ 12th on White River Country Club):

Simple Tip #4
Sometimes a Par 3 is really a Par 4. Play it that way.
The vast majority of golfers should lay up in the safe area,
and then pitch the ball up onto the green.
It’s probably a 4, a chunked chip might mean a 5, but it could be a 3.
But out of bounds, and you’re playing 3 from the tee.
In the water and you’re playing 3 from a drop zone that forces you to skirt the water again.
Now about that chunked chip shot…

Billy Casper was a great golfer.
It’s worth noting that, in his
1 stroke 1959 US Open victory
at Winged Foot, he laid up in
every round on the Par 3 17th.

You’ll be faced with a course management challenge on all approach shots,
not just Par 3’s. Try playing a round where you take a ‘safety first’ approach to every shot.
Check out your score. Is it an improvement if you play within yourself?
Course management is an important part of your game; if you’d be interested
in an accompanied round to help with your course management,
