Club Champs…
The Frank Edward Palmer Ball Trophy has been buffed, the golf course is ready for action – all we are missing is you!

Club Champs gets underway on Saturday with all divisions being represented. The A-Division will be concluded on Sunday, while the B, C, Ladies and Seniors will play their second round next Saturday. Keep in mind that the top 16 gross scores in each Division will play in the Matchplay Championships on 23rd & 24th June.

We wish you the very best of luck, but most importantly, we hope you meet some new members, make friends and have fun!

We’d like to thank all the sponsors including our regular large sponsor, to whom we are most grateful. In addition we’d like to thank The Biltong Shoppe; Srixon & Volvik.

You have until tomorrow to enter and can click here to download the Information & Entry form. Make sure you mail us both the entry form and your proof of payment. The Club Champs Rules are also attached for your information.

The draw will be announced on Thursday.

We have been advised by Golf RSA that they will be issuing all golfers with a new Handicap Card during June.

This new look card will replace the existing grey SRIXON SAGA handicap card that is currently in circulation. Please bear this in mind so that you collect your new card as soon as we let you know that they have arrived at the Club. The old cards will be deactivated on 31st August 2018. 		 

Boss of the Bar – Thurs, 17th May
Join us this Thursday after work or golf, when the ladies from the Zwartkop Hair & Beauty Salon will be behind the bar. It’s a Mexican theme with drinks and snacks to match, so wear your sombrero and come and enjoy the live music!

Adam, Ian and their choice of two lady partners will throw down the challenge with two pizza’s up for grabs after golf. If you lose to them, then sorry - then you have to buy your own pizza! There’s still the Mixed Trophy up for grabs though and prizes for that, so make sure you diarise the date! Affiliated Visitors pay R280 including the comp fee.

  

25th to 28th June - Junior Club Champs
We want to make it the best one ever! We’ll have A-; B-; C-; Girls and Bunnies Divisions available so there is room for everyone and every level. A strokeplay competition will take place on 25th & 26th June & that will be followed by matchplay on 27th & 28th.

A massive thank you to all the members who joined us on our annual Fancourt trip. Joe and I took a group of 40 golfers to Fancourt to do battle and I am proud to say that my team won!

We’re two weeks in to some simple advice on how to improve your
scorecard using the Par 3 holes. They’re an opportunity for everyone.
Removing risk helps.

Simple Tip #3
Where’s the easiest and safest target? Before you even look for the flag,
find the point on the green that gives you the largest room for error.
 
In this example, even going over the back of the target area marked will leave
you a chip and putt for a 3, so you’re looking at a 4 at worst. Go at the flag and the
consequences of a miss could be much greater. Even if you fly the flag and land in the bunker,
you’re then faced with a bunker shot back towards water. Going at the flag is a 2 or bust!
 

You’ll be faced with a course management challenge on all approach shots,
not just Par 3’s. Try playing a round where you take a ‘safety first’ approach to every shot.
Check out your score. Is it an improvement if you play within yourself?
Course management is an important part of your game; if you’d be interested
in an accompanied round to help with your course management,
