Congratulations to Sam Houghton and guest Pete Maris for successfully defending their Men’s Member-Guest Championship this past weekend. This is the first time in the history of the event with back-to-back winners. They defeated John Liguori and guest Greg Ritchie, and the golf was terrific throughout the shoot-out. Pete Maris hit the best drive I’ve ever seen on #11 to about 18” from the hole. John Liguori was sinking miles of putts in the clutch…it was a terrific event.

Many thanks to all who played and especially to our members who didn’t, for their patience and understanding. I know it’s a tough stretch for normal member access, both to the course and the dining areas.

The Ladies Member-Guest is on course today. Upon completion of play, I’ll send the results out.

The new Titleist VOKEY SM7 wedges are now in stock
. We have some demos you can try…check them out

Speaking of Titleist, they have decided to add the AVX ball to the world-wide ball line so their “limited market trial” was successful. I think many of you who have tried the ball, love it. We have them in stock in the shop. $48.99/dozen.

We have added 2 alignment sticks to the bag racks for your practice “pleasure”!

Please use them to help your game in a couple of easy ways
:

1. Align them on the ground parallel to your target like rail road tracks with the outer rail pointing at the target line and the inner rail parallel to that. This will get you square to your target (unless you twist your shoulders off parallel)

2. Align one rail parallel to the target line and then set the second rail perpendicular to indicate ball position (front, middle, back of stance). You will notice how relative ball position is to your alignment. Proper ball position is subjective. Old adages don’t necessarily apply.

3. Align one rail parallel to the target line and then set the second rail a few feet on the ground in front of the ball and aimed at the target. This will give you a nice visual aid of the direction you should be swinging and increase target awareness. (this drill may get you out of “paralysis by analysis” mode).

Looking for a 260 yard+ tee shot with an average swing speed?
Launching it higher will help. Just how high would you need to launch your tee shots?

If you know a child between the ages of 6 and 13, do you want their sporting participation to be about
becoming an elite athlete, or do you really want them to have fun socializing while learning some
movement and balance skills? Let them try golf!

There’s a lot of evidence supporting the argument that we should make sure that enjoyment and a
multi-sport approach are fundamental to their early development.

As coaches we want children to be safe, to feel settled, comfortable and integrated with other children,
and of course to progress. But as well as progress, we need to provide them with the levels of enjoyment
and fulfilment that will keep them active, happy, and connected to a pastime that
will be very valuable to their life.

Come and talk to us about the best way to introduce golf to your child
or how to develop their ability.
