Another week, another scorecard picture. Although we’re not sure what happened to Mike and Rudy. If anyone has seen them, please call the store.

Kev with his custom TaylorMade P790s and Oban graphite iron shafts made their debut, and as you can see, performed the way we expected them to and the way he  hoped.

Well done Kev, and we hope you’ll be enjoying your new irons until you’re ready to get a new set!

If we had a dollar for everyone looking for new equipment to fix something in their swings, we’d actually close the store most days. While many have the means to simply purchase a new bag and be on their way, we don’t operate in this way. Simply fitting you with a new bag is the easy way out. Your flaws are still there and we wouldn’t feel good about taking your hard-earned disposable income.

Here is an example: "Tommy, I found an [Titleist] AVX on the course a couple of weeks ago and thought I would put it into play. Frankly, I was too cheap to buy a box, so I was glad I found one. I did do a little research and pulled up an old newsletter where you decided to play this as your full-time ball. I see why. This ball is great. It flies lower (I produce a lot of spin) and to just goes straighter for me. I played one ball for 11 holes before I hooked it into the way into deep brush. But I’m convinced! I’m going to stock up on AVX balls now!" ~ Paul

If you’re someone who doesn’t quite get what the Titleist range of premium balls are supposed to do, this small chart can explain it in some pretty simple terms.

The objective is to keep the ball in play. Woods and irons can only do so much after a swing has been grooved. Many will contend that they can’t tell the difference between golf balls. And I concede that many of you would be right. You hit the ball and chase it just to hit it again. My kid is like that. He just hits it a country mile and is perfectly happy to run after it and try to hit a green. There are many people who need a ball that has an initial high launch, that cuts through the wind and stops fast with spin on a green.

Choosing a ball can be tiresome. But I contend it was some of the most fun I’ve had while practicing, just to see what I could do with it. And there were a lot of balls that I liked and could control. It ultimately comes down to preference. People are loyal to brands, and I totally get that. Truth be told, TaylorMade, Bridgestone and Callaway makes pretty good balls that I  also can control. Whether it comes in yellow, has a lower cost, or the fact that you only need to hit once to get 300 yards, all comes into play. But there are multiple options that we carry and that you can try to make this game more enjoyable and help you play your best.

If you’re looking to make a change or need recommendations to get a different feel and look into your game, the ball is the least expensive way to do that. Tim and Chris can help you get started. Give us a call in the store at 817.595.4653 or stop in during normal business hours. It would be our pleasure and honor to help you!

Whether you need a new bag or a few lessons, we have you covered and will continue to do going forward. Call us at 817.595.4653 to help get your game in gear or

“You should play a driver with more loft.” It’s a nice generalization.
But that’s what it is: a generalization.
If you want the most improvement from a new driver,
then come and get fitted. Let’s create the right launch conditions.

Here’s a golfer who bought a driver off the shelf.
And here’s his performance after he was fitted properly.

Despite playing the latest technology, it took just 20 minutes to find
an extra 23 yards, by LOWERING the launch angle. In this case,
spin was also lowered.

There’s a driver DNA – ball speed, launch angle, and spin rate. We need to match those when
fitting you for a driver. How close is your driver to your Launch DNA now?
Do you have 20 yards or more of performance in the right DNA?
Come and see us. Let’s unlock your potential to thrill.

As we get to the change of season, we’re going to give you four areas of your game you should benchmark.
You can choose to compile statistics on these areas, but we think you’ll know
where you stand when thinking about your game.

To play a splash bunker shot and get out the bunker stress free you must use
Your bounce by approaching the ball with the correct technique.

Being able to 2-putt from distance consistently helps your golf.
Sometimes it means you walk off with a net birdie. Most times, it’s two putts and a solid net par.
Missing either of those opportunities creates disappointment and frustration.
We want less of that. We want you to walk to the next tee accompanied by a feeling of fulfillment.

How many times in a round are you likely to 3-putt?
Infrequently; at least once; more than once; it’s a regular threat.

Is there a common cause?
You struggle to read the green; you struggle to match stroke length to the distance required;
you strike the ball inconsistently with your putter (or a combination).
What could you do to improve your performance?
