Why wait for the PGA Show?

Welcome Titleist T100, 620 CB and 620 MB

I guess we don’t have to wait for the PGA Show to see new equipment.  Titleist introduced new equipment at the US Open at Pebble this week.  The new T100, 620 CB, and 620 MB are in play this week.

By the fall, these beauties will be available for demo and build here at The Golf Station.

Thanks for these kind words

"I picked up my irons on Friday. Awesome work! I Love them. Tim and all the folks there are fantastic. Great service, great experience. 10 out of 10. They take amazing pride in their work, and it shows. Cannot wait to pick up my woods!

They took a ton of time to get to know what works for my swing. Went through a ton of options and did not leave any stone unturned. The amount of patience they have is astonishing. If you have never done a fitting, it’s a great experience, and I highly recommend Tim and his team to get it done right! Thanks, guys!"

This is how we do business.  Everyone who walks through the door is important and worth the effort to get their bag as perfect as we can make it.  Thank you A.K. for the kind words, and we hope you enjoy your bag!  Especially when your woods are done!

Do balls REALLY matter?

"When I play, I usually play whatever ball I find or whatever is on sale.  I hear the ball makes all the difference in the short game, but I’m simply not good enough to know the difference.  Am I wrong?" ~ Kay

Everyone can benefit from playing a single ball to know what that ball does in the long, but especially the short game.  When I picked up golf back in the 90’s, that was me.  I didn’t even know if I would keep playing.  Twenty years later, I’m still struggling to find the “perfect” ball.  Tim knows me:  I obsess about every little detail to make sure it’s right.  I’m afraid of making a mistake.  One might call that being a bit OCD.  But golf gear is expensive.  I’m trying to stay married.

However, what you should be looking for is consistency in your game.  One of the basic and cheapest changes to make is the ball.  For $12 or less for a sleeve, you can figure out if that ball will work for your game.  This isn’t about which ball is best overall.  Though I will tell you there are only three brands of balls currently made where the company is completely in charge of the process from start to finish, meaning they don’t contract anything out and everything is done in-house.  Yes, only three.  If you’re going to take the game somewhat seriously, I suggest that you try a few out and see if they are what you need.  After you make your choice, stick to it, not matter what and get to know what it does, especially around the greens.  If you can’t score from 100 yards and in, it’s usually a long day.

I know what you’re thinking:  Which brands are completely in charge of their processes?  I will preface this:  There are a bunch of good golf balls out there, and you need to test the ones to find the ones to suit you.  The three brands are Titleist, Bridgestone, and Srixon.  But remember, these are all personal decisions based on your game to see what works best for you.

Let’s get your game into even better shape!

Could you save 5 shots per round?

Let’s get that putter working for you

If you struggle to make enough 6, 8, 10 and 12-foot putts on a flat lie, there’s a real possibility that your putter is getting in the way of your fun. If you’re struggling, then set up as shown below and try 10x10 foot putts (on a flat surface).

If you’re feeling uncomfortable in this setup, or you’re still struggling to sink enough straight-forward, flat putts, then try a putter with a shorter shaft. What happens then? You might be very surprised.

Is 35“ too long for you? The average shaft length on a putter is 35“. That’s too long for the majority of golfers. It’s longer than the average putter length on the PGA Tour. Can you get into a posture that allows you to setup correctly and deliver the putter face square at impact with 35“?

Improving your ability to square the putter face at impact will take up to 5 shots off your scorecard. There are some simple keys to that improvement. Set up and putter are part of that equation. So come and see us.
