TaylorMade strikes again!

In the past week, the TaylorMade M5 has won twice in the same day.  Once on the European Tour and again on the PGA Tour by a 3-tournament rookie who can now make his own schedule for the next three years.

However, there are two excellent drivers from TaylorMade that can be fit to your style and skill level.  The M6 is for those who need a bit more forgiveness. I can promise you, they’re going to work better than a generically built stock setup.  Our “Tour Quality Fit” will make these drivers, no matter what you choose, a weapon on the course.

A classic reimagined

This is the 2019 version of golf’s unicorn. The Teryllium T22 Coppers' feel was unmatched in its day.  These putters even commanded top dollar.  Well, Scotty Cameron has brought these back due to high demand in their custom department.  These will be available to the masses in Newport, Newport 1.5 and Fastback designs.

Of course, being a certified Scotty Cameron Fitting Center, we can take care of the details so these will be fit specifically to you.  These will be available in mid-August.

Struggling with your game?

Don't take it out on the balls

I was on vacation last week, and Mini-Me and I made our way to the range on Oceana Naval Air Station to hit balls and practice putting.  Once I got him set up and hitting the ball, I began to practice short game shots almost exclusively.  At the end of the range, I saw one guy, probably in his early 20’s beating balls in the heat.  I saw and heard him struggling to hit mid iron shots no more than 15 feet in the air and diagnosed him immediately:  He was de-lofting the iron at set up.  It took me everything I had not to walk over and be “that guy” and give him a 30-second tip.  I’m no instructor and can barely fix myself, but I was able to see his issue.

This happens a lot.  A golfer that is struggling and you can tell they need more than a tip; they need a lesson or a few lessons.  If your swing flaws are causing your game to falter, and your language to get salty, give us a call, and we’ll get you straight in short order.

Always good to hear from you

Just because I was on vacation, it didn’t stop testimonials from coming in!

"I have to give a big thanks to the staff of The Golf Station for the work they did on my bag.  The shaft on my PING G400 cracked, and Tim refit me into a new shaft from VA Composites.  The Raijin woke my old driver up!  It made me fall in love with my driver again, and it’s better than it was before.  I didn’t have the money for a new driver, and Tim didn’t try to sell me one.  It’s a totally different experience here.  Thank you so much!" ~ C.H.

Thank you, C.H., for your kind words.  We enjoy reading about all our customer’s experiences.  They confirm what we know we can do and helps us improve on what we can get better at.  We’re not perfect, but we’re working on it every day.  You’re all important in our journey, and we thank you for everything you do for us.

If we can help you in regards to equipment, lessons or you just want to gain some knowledge about the game, click here or give us a call at 817.595.4653.  We’d love to be of service to you!

Revealing the lie

It does impact accuracy

Test after test conducted by golf magazines, club fitters, and even those trying to “bust” myths, substantiates the fact that you’ll hit more accurate approach shots if your lie angle is a perfect match to your golf swing.

Irons toe down
Strike the ball with the toe slightly down and your ball will go right of the target (right-handers).
Iron heel down
Strike the ball with heel down and your ball will travel left of the target (right-handers).

The mechanics of this are obvious really. Make contact with the turf with the toe of the club and the club face will open. Make contact with the heel and the face closes. It’s how imperceptible it feels to most of us, and how large the impact is, that surprises everyone.

Are your clubs telling a lie?
Do you think you’ve hit a solid shot but missed on one side? Is it your setup; your swing path and face angle; or your lie angle? You’d be blown away to discover how many golfers play with a lie angle that makes the game harder. Make it easier to hit better golf shots.

A better life for them

Have we reached a crisis point?

Our children are becoming slaves to social media. A 2016 study in North America concluded that the AVERAGE number of social messages a teenage girl processes in a day is 1,700. Yes, seventeen hundred. Unbelievable, isn’t it?

How do you process SEVENTEEN HUNDRED messages per day and do everything else? You need the hieroglyphics of the 21st century.

Let us add balance to their lives
Have your child enroll into one of our group sessions to learn to play golf, and we’ll have them outdoors, interacting, learning new skills, and having a whole lot of fun they can take out onto the golf course. They won’t stop playing computer games, but for a couple of hours each time we’ll have them off the phone, out from in front of the screen, engaging in fun activity.
