It’s time for the President’s Cup!
Come Thursday, the first round will kick off with the Foursomes.
Ernie Els is our Captain and I’m sure he is a little disappointed that he only has one South African who qualified for the team. His team comes from nine different countries - Mark Leishman, Hideki Matsuyama, Louis Oosthuizen, Adam Scott; Abraham Ancer, Haotong Li, CT Pan, Cameron Smith, Adam Hadwin, Sungjae Im, Joaquin Niemann and Byeong Hun An.
His vision for the week will be to make sure his players enjoy the experience and compete as successfully as they can.
The American team is captained by Tiger Woods, who as you know, will also be playing along with Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Webb Simpson, Matt Kuchar, Bryson DeChambeau, Tony Finau, Patrick Reed, Gary Woodland and Rickie Fowler.
The Americans do have a stronger team and they may be more in form, but the good news is that it’s not always the best team that wins. We’ve seen that often in the Ryder Cup.
The event is being played at Royal Melbourne for the third time. It’s one of the world’s finest golf courses in Australia’s Sandbelt region, which might suit the International team a little more. | | No need to go hungry on the course |

From Sunday the 15th, there will be a 1 tee start every day up until and including Tuesday the 14th of January.
