Hough's it

I am away this week, so apologies for the short letter.

Upcoming Events

1. This Thursday 14th is the March Ladies Open.

2. This Saturday the 16th is The Players Championship, and the 1st leg of The Race to Simola. It's a shotgun start at 7h15, and is Individual Stableford. Remember that, as in previous years, your best 3 scores of the 5 qualifying events - The Players and the 4 Majors - will count towards your total in this series, and the Top 4 on the log will represent Houghton at Simola in late October, and hopefully successfully defend The Golden Bear.

3. Sun 17th to Fri 22nd is the Sunshine Tour Qualifying tournament - aka Tour School - and we will be able to assist you in getting reciprocal bookings at other courses on Sunday 17th and Thursday 21st.

4. Sunday 31st is The Family Trophy, a Betterball Stableford competition for any and all family combinations, and it will be in the morning field, and followed by some snacks after golf.

Shop Stuff

1. We're excited to announce that we will be stocking Under Armour products very soon!

2. Ladies, we have quite a large range of Swagg clothing available in store.

3. Callaway Epic Flash drivers and fairways. I have demo units that you can take to the range to try out.

4. We also have demo irons of all of Callaway’s new Apex and Apex Pro irons and hybrids.

5. And then in Callaway shoes, we have the top of the range Apex Pro S shoe…

As well as the
Delmar Retro…

6. And lastly, also from the Callaway stable, are the Odyssey Stroke Lab putters.

Multi-material (graphite and steel) Stroke Lab shafts are one of the key features of this new range of putters, which is 40 grams lighter, and which allows them to move more weight to the head to give you more feel and more consistency in the roll of your putts. These putters come out in all the usual Odyssey head shapes, but new is The Tuttle, a round mallet-shaped head.

That’s about all for this week.

Hope you have a good one.

Technique, head design, and fitting can either make this a tremendous club to carry and use; or a club not worth its weight in the bag. Where are you when it comes to your fairway woods?

The Par 3 Advantage

Think your way around the Par 3s

What’s your average score on the Par 3s? For most of the golfers we see, improved game management would lower that average. The target and club selection are critical parts of game management on Par 3s.

Make Par 3 improvement a priority

That’s an idea. If you and some friends would like to be accompanied on a round, then let’s see how much better you score, if you let us help you with the percentages.
