For the first time in living memory the flood water reached the 100-year flood line. You can imagine then that it’s been a long haul to get the course playable. Our staff are working tirelessly to get it ready for you.
We will be able to open the back nine for play from tomorrow and all 18 will be open on Saturday.
Thank-you; thank-you; thank-you to those that showed up on Saturday to help us with a clean-up of the course. Your efforts were greatly appreciated and went a long way to helping us out.
On the Staff Front…
Congratulations to six of our staff members - Philemon Malete; Frans Mamaregana; Bennett Njili; Kislon Mamadi; Johannes Mamaregane and Joseas Kgowa - who received certificates for completing BC Landscape’s NQF Level 4 Sports Turf Maintenance qualification.
They have shown tremendous dedication in completing the programme over the last year or so, and we trust that they will now be able to put their knowledge into practice. Thank-you to Francois Viljoen, Jannie Venter and the staff at BC Landscapes (led by Brunny Mautla) for mentoring them through the programme.
We have bid a sad farewell to Francois Viljoen, our Golf Management Campus Programme Director who has relocated to Nelspruit. He will be missed by us and the students but he will leave them in the capable hands of Joanita Verster who returns to Zwarties in January.
We also bid farewell to Jan Palare, who retires at the end of the month. Jan has been at Zwartkop for a staggering 32 years, so not only is he is a ”part of the furniture”, his friendly smile and attitude will be missed by us all. | |  | | | Thank you!
Another big thank-you – to each and every one of you that donated to our Xmas Gift Box Challenge. We were able to give the Lions Club Centurion Lifestyle over 50 gift boxes to hand out to kids in need in our area.
