We continue with updates on the changes for the new World Handicap System. This week we talk about course handicap and how it is calculated. The most wonderful thing about the World Handicap System is that it eliminates the need to adjust handicaps when playing different sets of tees. The new system takes into account course rating when calculating your course handicap and this means that you will see a wider difference in your handicap from tee to tee. Jambalea 2020
We have began planning for the 2020 Jambalea! The event will take place on June 24th through June 27th this year. Click here for a sign-up form and for more details on the schedule of the event. We will have sign up similar to past years, on Thursday, February 20th at 7:45 am. The field will be open to the first 64 members. Below are some updates for the event and guidelines for the sign up day.
Event
Each player in the event must have a USGA Handicap. We will use the players lowest handicap index from the last 12 months (June 15th, 2019 to June 14th, 2020).
The Derby will have some new ways to qualify and the Saturday Finals will have a new format.
We will continue with the format of seven 9-hole matches and flights of 8 teams.
Sign Up
Sign up will start at 7:45 am on Thursday, February 20th.
A member must be present and have the sign-up form completed to sign up. If a member can’t be there then they can have somebody stand in for them to bring the sign-up sheet.
The sign ups will be taken on a first come first serve basis.
If anybody brings more than one sign-up sheet the first sheet they bring will be taken when they get to the front of the line. They will need to get back in line to turn the second sheet in.
Daisy 2020
We are also just starting planning for the 2020 Daisy Classic. We are excited for another great year with this event. It will be held on June 11th through June 13th and we will be continuing with the format of five 9-hole matches for the event.

On Wednesday, February 12th, we invite all lady golfers at CCL to join us for a night out. We will cover some updates with the new Handicap System, go over some rules and fill you in on events and other fun things at the club this season. Your ball. Whose mind?
It often seems like it, doesn’t it? Everything felt right, but where’s it going?
Your golf ball’s a quick thinker. All its decisions are made in about 500 microseconds. We’ve discovered that a golf club that doesn’t fit you has a much bigger influence over your golf ball’s behavior than we thought.
The setup of your equipment, the way you’re delivering clubface to the ball in that one-inch, determines what happens next.
Act on your feelings
One act, two different feelings. The act is a 145-yard approach shot. Let’s assume you’re here courtesy of a drive that’s found the middle of the fairway.
With perfect contact, there is a visceral sense of joy at being at one with the game; that extends into satisfaction as the ball flies high and true; and then completes with a sense of accomplishment.
But first, there’s "craving". How much do you want that feeling of joy, satisfaction, and accomplishment? If you want it enough, you’ll take action.
Fan the flame
Without action, there is only acceptance. Make 2020 a year to deliver on your desires.
