The Club

Dear Member,

It is Club Champs week and we are super excited to host our members!

Preparation is underway in all areas of the Club. A heavy dusting was done last week due to the fact that we lost a few closure days during the month of April, because of all the public holidays. The dusting helps to smooth the greens, keeps them firm and reduces pitch mark damage. This is very important, especially when you consider the number of rounds we have put through in recent months. This week, the team will be adding an iron / premo mix to keep the greens more consistent during the weekend. The greens will be rolled twice and double cut to get the speed up, but taking into account that we have 448 players in the field, we cannot have them too quick. The goal is to have the green running 10 to 10.5 on the stimp, which will be challenging, but still enjoyable.

If you are playing during the week, we ask that you assist us by filling divots, fixing pitch marks and please don’t litter. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Club this weekend.

Club Champs entries are closed and we have a full field. Over the last couple of weeks, we provided our members with very important information leading up to the tournament, from order of events during the weekend, pace of play procedures, Club Championships Local Rules and all the other important information players need to know for the event.

As we are still under Covid-19 regulations, players are not allowed to share any equipment or scorecards. As we did in last year’s Club Championships, we will only provide one scorecard per 4-Ball.

We mentioned in the local rules that all scorecards must be submitted straight after your round; it is your responsibility to ensure the scorecard is submitted. Below are a few points that MUST be on the scorecard and checked before submitting your scorecard:

Players names and surnames.
Handicap Index, Course Handicap and Playing Handicap (95% Allowance).
As per the sample scorecard – players A & B are in the B-Division and will be playing Strokeplay – two most important things that must be visible are:
  o Total Gross
o Total Nett (Gross minus Playing Handicap)
Players C & D are in the C-Division and will be playing Individual Points Stableford. Gross scores will not count towards the end results.
o If a player is playing Stableford Points, all zero (0) pointers must be ringed on the scorecard.
All information in red writing must be correct, submitting the wrong result can lead to disqualification.
Two signatures must be on the scorecard – one for Player (A or B) and one for Marker (C or D)
Please double check that all scores are correct before submitting your scorecard.

Pace of Play
Play READY GOLF at all times.
Be on your respective tee box 10 minutes prior to your tee-off time.
Keep up with the 4-Ball ahead of you at all times.
Halfway House will be strictly Grab & Go – no sit down.
When in doubt about a ruling, please play two balls and get the ruling when submitting your scorecard.
As per the rules of golf, limit your time to search for a lost ball to three minutes. If you are doubtful if your ball would be found, please play a provisional off the tee box – It is important to inform your playing partners that you are playing a provisional ball.
Don’t waste unnecessary time on the greens, read your putt while other players are busy playing.
Cart clever when making use of a golf cart.

We are looking forward to a great weekend, and we are sure that the practice facilities will be very busy this week.

This is our biggest event for the year so remember not to take golf too seriously, enjoy every minute on the course, and most importantly have fun out there.
