Are you that golfer?

Do you strive to be viewed as a good playing partner? When the medal is drawn are you that person that others dread seeing their name against?
 
 
Being courteous to all those you play with is important. Keep temper tantrums to a minimum, make sure your pace of play is good and pay attention to where your partners’ shots go and what their score is.

If we all did this, everyone would enjoy their golf more. If you’re interested in the competitive side of the game, please support the club events where possible. For many, time will be a factor so prioritising which events to play in is important. Click here to view our 2021 Club Calendar.

8th Bridge Bushwillow

Construction on the 8th bridge, on Bushwillow, will be starting next week. Please take note of the following information:
• Forward tee box will be in play, from Monday, opposite the dam. You will drive from the 7th green, along the river bank and over the temporary bridge, which has been moved upstream, and then towards the temporary tee box.

• We will have signage in place to guide players over the temporary bridge.
• The construction team will be on-site from 7am daily, they will be tested, and will be identifiable by their blue overalls and yellow reflectors.
• The construction period will be between 7 to 8 weeks.

Battle of the Schools – Round 4

We are looking forward to hosting BOS this coming weekend but we ask for your assistance to ensure that we manage the post golf gatherings, as per the current rules of the club. We are all aware that the current Covid-19 infection rate is severe and it will take all of us to ensure we continue to offer a safe environment.

• The Club will ensure that all members are checked in, in advance, so please make sure your cards are topped up.
• You can go straight to the tee box and collect your card from the starter/marshal.
• Only one scorecard will be allocated per fourball.
• All golf carts will be sanitized and disinfected before and after use.
• Keep your mask on until you tee off and when you play, make sure you keep your distance from your partner and other players.
• Please do not remove the flags while playing.
• Sanitisers are available on each tee box.
• Rakes are being sanitised and will be available at all bunkers, so please don’t forget to rake the bunkers.
• Locker rooms will remain open but shower facilities will be closed.
• We have dedicated cleaners to sanitise tables at halfway house and spread the tables between inside and outside. Grab & Go options are available if you don’t want to sit and eat.
• The club has spaced all tables in the bar area and will not allow tables to be joined together. Please keep to a maximum of 8 players per table.
• We have dedicated staff on sanitising of tables and sanitisers are available throughout the area. 
 
 
League

The second round of the scratch league will take place this coming Sunday. We are very excited as this will be the first round where all four of our teams will be playing.
• A-Side will be playing away vs Parkview (A-Division)
• B-Side will be hosting Dainfern on Firethorn (B-Division)
• C-Side will be playing away vs Krugersdorp B (D-Division)
• D-Side will be playing away vs CMR B (D-Division)

Driving Range

Please note that the Driving Range will be closed from the 5th to the 8th of July due to the renovation project. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
 
 
The closing date for entries is Monday, 28 June. Click here to BOOK! Payment for your entry must be completed online for your entry to be valid.

Tournament Conditions (entries are limited to 120 players):
Format
Strokeplay (Nett prizes) & Individual Stableford
Two rounds of 18 holes
Tees
Strokeplay: MEN - WHITE & LADIES - BLUE (both courses)
Stableford: Any tee box, handicap must be adjusted accordingly
 
All handicaps will be calculated on Monday, 28 June 2021. This will be the official handicap for the tournament. The printout of the handicaps will be available in the golf office.
The closing date for entries will be Monday, 28 June 2021 at 17h00, or once all available entries have been booked. No late entries will be accepted.
Any player cancelling after the closing date of entries will be charged the competition fee.
Members must be in good standing to participate.
The field is limited to 120 players. A waiting list will be created once the limit has been reached.
All players (except juniors) will be allowed to make use of a golf cart.
 
 
 
Congratulations

Well done to Morne Steyn, who is part of our Junior Elite Academy. Morne won  the SA Kids Junior Golf Open at Houghton on Sunday, 13th of June.
 
 
 
 
 
Feeling cold and not in the mood to get out of bed. We here at the Randpark Golf Shop dare you to come down to the Baobab Lounge on Saturday, 26th June from 10am – 6pm to view our amazing Winter Wear Specials.
 
 
 
Winter finally arrived with an extremely cold weekend two weeks ago and since grass growth has been dramatically stunted. Please help our team by repairing your divots and staying on designated paths with your carts, growth recovery is very slow.
 
 
With the slower growth, we have changed from our normal cultural practices to our winter program. On the courses, we started our projects with some clearing out of play areas, refurbishment of course furniture, flags, bollards and repairs to our irrigation systems for the next growing season. Our mechanical team is also hard at work getting all our cutting units clean, serviced and ready for next season.

Unfortunately, after a couple of month’s sewage free, we have another blockage. The leak is in front of the 14th ladies tee on Bushwillow. The issue has been reported and will hopefully be resolved quickly.
 
 
We are extremely proud of our maintenance golf team. They played against Parkview Golf Club and won both games – home and away - well done guys!
