It’s been an interesting month in the hot seat as your new Captain. I have enjoyed every minute of it, despite it coming with some very real challenges. None more so than the recently completed Joburg Open.
First of all, I would like to thank all our staff, under the capable leadership of Albert Clack, for once again pulling out all the stops to deliver a world-class event. Pity they could not control the weather and Omicron virus along with the resultant fallout when the tournament had to be prematurely cancelled.
Unfortunately, the appearance and condition of our greens has created reputational damage to the Club, the Sunshine Tour and the COJ.
We will continue to provide updates on the cause of the damage to the greens (once this is established), but more importantly, the remedial action that we are taking to bring the greens back to their normal condition.
A big thank you must also go to our members for your positive attitude in giving up your courses for this prestigious event.
It’s been a tough year. It’s been a tough two years. To those of you that will be going away, please travel safely. To those of you staying in Joburg, enjoy the down time. Spend some quality time with family and friends, and come back refreshed to take on next year.
I will not be around for the rest of December. I will be catching up with family and friends that I have not seen in two years.

Members are reminded that you can buy your tickets for the Joker Raffle Draw during the week in the Terrace Bar, Baobab Terrace or the Golf Shop. Get one ticket for R10, six tickets for R50, or really increase your chances with 15 tickets for R100!
You just have to be present when the draw takes place. The AM draw will take place after the morning field prize-giving (14h00), and the PM draw will take place after the afternoon field prize-giving (18h00).

| | | Battle of the Schools 2022 | |
The Battle of the Schools will make a return next year. We have seen a big increase of schools wanting to be part of this great event, and we have increased the number from 20 to 22. Currently, due to the demand for tee off times on Saturday mornings, we will consider playing BOS mostly in the afternoons, and limited slots in the morning. If you would like to enter your school, please email Rikert at golf@randpark.co.za.
Additional information regarding BOS will be forwarded to the captains once they have submitted their entries. Please note, schools are only allowed to enter one team for 2022, and it is subject to availability. Entries are limited, so please enter to avoid disappointment. |
| If you are interested in playing League for Randpark in the new year, please add your name, membership number, Handicap Index, and which league you would like to play for on the entry form at reception. The form will be available from Monday, 13 December. |
