BSI Premier 18-hole Medal

Well done to Bernard Meyer and Titouan Tregouet for their score of 69 and jointly taking the BSI 18-hole Premier Medal win on Friday, 6 May 2022 played on Royal Johannesburg and Kensington West GC.

Titouan has now won three tournaments this year and continues to impress with some good consistent form showing through, and his coach Tyrone Gibb, is obviously doing the right things with him. Bernard has won three of the four BSI medals that he has now entered this year and gone back-to-back on these last two tournaments, and with that, dare we say the word “treble”?

Keep up the great work guys, but look over your shoulder as the pack is chasing you.

Personal bests:
  • Titouan Tregouet 69
  • Michael Coertzen 73
  • Viljoen Reinecke 73
  • Owami Chimanyi 75
  • Pieter du Preez 77
Excellent work by coach Tyrone Gibb, who coaches four of the above players.

BSI Junior Academy 18-Hole Medal

Congratulations to Eric Ncube and Grant Labuschagne on winning the Friday, 6 May 2022 BSI Golf Junior Academy Medal with scores of 71 on Royal Johannesburg and Kensington West Course.

This win sees Grant going back-to-back, taking his third title for the year. Is it going to be a ‘three-peat’? Eric has really stepped up his game this year with five top podium wins and is still aiming for more.

A big shoutout to coach Chris Wright who coaches both of these rising stars! Well done to all involved and keep up the hard work on and off the course.

Eric Ncube and Grant Labuschagne.

Let’s get to know our partners in the game

Our partner acknowledgement for this week is ProItUp, the company that is offering high-performance rangefinders across Africa. Read below how the Founder and CEO, Arvy Shongwe considers the relationship with BSI:

“The true purpose behind our partnership with BSI comes from our commitment to impact the golf industry in South Africa by supporting the development of golf in the communities we are in. After meeting Michael Balderstone, founder of BSI for the first time, I knew that he had something great going with the programme and the overall institution. I knew we could play a fine role in supporting each other.

ProItUp is not a specific clientele's brand, but instead it’s the people's brand. A golf brand everyone can afford, and a brand that is passionate about building community in the golf industry. We are providing a product for the average guy. So, from this narrative, one may clearly see our vision: ‘To support the growth of the game of golf in South Africa and Africa as a whole.'

We are fortunate to partner with BSI to support the growth of their players/students through our technology.”

  Wedge play wonder
  The sole searching is over

With three sole grind options – V-shaped, S-shaped and C-shaped soles – spanning the full spectrum of loft you’ll ever need, the new Cleveland CBX ZipCore Wedges are your perfect greenside companions.

    Short-game saviours
The S-shaped sole – found in 54 and 56-degree sand-wedges – is handy from the fairway, rough or sand. Ample bounce helps you generate enough speed in any turf conditions. Complement your S-shaped sole with the V-shaped or C-shaped sole, depending on how much loft you need to cover your bases. Book a wedge
assessment and let’s put an end to the unnecessary sole searching.
