| | Dear Member, The pro-forma invoices for the upcoming Club financial year will all be sent by Monday, 28th February. Please get in contact with myself or Tania should you need to make changes to your membership category, or have not received your invoice. The two young men who caused the damage to the Bushwillow greens last year have admitted guilt. They will work for 800 hours on maintaining the courses under the direction of the greenkeepers. They have one year to work off their obligation to the Club. Each of them has expressed remorse for what they had done and offered their sincere apologies to the Club and its members. Due to planned maintenance there will unfortunately be no hot water on Monday, 28th of February. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Happy golfing, Albert We always encourage communication between our members and the club. If you have any comments or questions please don’t hesitate to either contact our General Manager, Albert Clack at gm@randpark.co.za or our Club Captain, Arthur Heinrich at captainslog@randpark.co.za. | | The SA Amateur Stroke Play event took place on Firethorn this week. In many ways, it was a nice break from traffic on the course as there were no golf carts and the normal member tees got a chance to recover. On the downside, we were unable to mow rough or brushcut during this time as we could not disturb the players or create different playing conditions. We will mow as much rough as possible on Friday but will not manage to get through everything. The long rough didn’t seem to have made course conditions very tough for the amateurs as the leader after 3 rounds were 24 under par with scores of 64, 65 and 63. | SA Amateur Stroke Play Championship | On the positive side, the rough cutters have managed to mow Bushwillow twice this week and the brushcutters have managed to mow back many out of play areas including the river banks. We also had a major pipe break in the Bushwillow pumphouse which has taken 3 days to repair as it was under the pumphouse wall. It has been hot and dry this week and it is always a nervous time when there is no water available. The fairway bunker on the 4th Bushwillow is not draining, the base is heavy clay and has blocked up the drain pipes. We are busy replacing the pipes and hope to have the bunker back in play by the weekend. | 4th Bunker upgrade on Bushwillow | Garden clean-up around the clubhouse | After last week’s newsletter communication regarding golf check-in procedures, we reviewed the process and the decision was made to continue with the pre-check ins over the weekend. The feedback received from a few members over the last week is that the system works very well and avoided having members queuing for a long time before their round of golf. This will assist members arriving on their tee boxes 10 minutes prior to their tee-off times. The pre-check ins before your round have become part of the new norm and therefore we will continue to do pre-check-ins for the time being.
The No-Shows (especially over the weekend) will be closely monitored and recorded. The starters will keep a record of all the players that fail to arrive and in the event that a player does not arrive a No-Show fee, up to the amount of R500, will be deducted from your membership account. | Well Done & Congratulations to | The CGGU Annual Awards Dinner was held on Tuesday evening at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club.
